Understanding SPF: What Does It Mean?
SPF, or Sun Protection Factor, indicates how well a sunscreen protects your skin from UVB rays — the primary cause of sunburn and potential skin damage. For instance:
- SPF 15 blocks approximately 93% of UVB rays.
- SPF 30 blocks about 97%.
- SPF 50 offers around 98% protection.
It is essential to note that no sunscreen can block 100% of UV rays. Therefore, regular reapplication is crucial for effective protection.
